Roasted Chestnuts

Roasted chestnuts are a great reminder my childhood. I love them, I remember that in Turkey on the streets they would roast them and my mother and I use to buy them and eat them on the go. Here in LA I don’t see any but in New York it’s more common. Luckily we can make them at home. Here is how I roast my chestnuts…

 

Preheat your oven to 350 F,

Take a pound of chestnuts ( in their shells) and use a sharp knife to make a cross in the top of each one. Place it on a roasting tray, cross side up, and roast them in the oven for 25 – 30 mins, until the top split open. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before peeling, otherwise you will burn your hands.

It’s so yummy and cozy, great winter treat.
