THE BENEFITS OF A HIGH PROTEIN BREAKFAST
I wanted to write about the high protein breakfast today because I get the million dollar question almost everyday,
Q: I don’t know what to eat in the morning, what do you eat?
A: I eat high PROTEIN breakfast
Let me explain:)
I use to eat a lot of carbs back in the days for breakfast with my eggs and cheese and sometimes pancakes or oatmeal with some fruit etc. This is a typical American breakfast, and most of us are familiar with this. After an hour or two I would reach for a snack, having a high Carb breakfast will give you the energy to run a marathon for an HOUR…:) but when you start crashing than all of a sudden you have used all your energy and left with sluggish low beat and you are also hungry. it’s the vicious cycle most of us go through everyday. When I cut grains out of my diet that left me with a whole new habits to get use to, but let me tell you, after 1 day trying the new way of eating there was no way I was going back. I had more energy, I didn’t get hungry after an hour, I didn’t crush, I didn’t snack I was good until my lunch time and didn’t have any problems. That being said, this was my personal experience, I believe in Bio-individuality therefore not one thing works for all of us. You must try and see what works best for you, I’m only giving you some guide lines to try something new:)
So here is what do now:
I EAT EGGS: Yes eggs with yolks, I love eggs and I love my yolks soft, because when you keep the yolk soft you keep most nutrients, when you overcook anything you kill most of the nutrients,
They also contain more than 90% of the calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, thiamin, folate, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12. Compared to the yolk, the white doesn’t bring much to the table in terms of nutrients. An egg white contains more protein than the yolk, but it’s only because the yolk is smaller.
So I poach my eggs, or a soft scramble it. The most important when you are shopping for your eggs, you MUST make sure they are, Cage Free, Free range, Pastured Organic Eggs that they come from Happy Chickens!!!:)
You have to make sure you are eating a clean egg, meaning, NO hormones, NO antibiotics etc. it has a huge effect on the nutrient level and our health.
EAT VEGGIES: You can steam some Spinach or Asparagus or come Cauliflower and some Bell peppers, or even roast some onions and mushrooms and you can make the best omelet ever. I usually use little Coconut oil ( this one doesn’t have the coconut smell : by jarrow toss them in a medium heat just until they are golden brown)
I sometimes use leftover dinner, some wild fish, or grass fed beef, or some organic chicken makes a great date for my eggs.
Dinner for breakfast is the new black:)
if I don’t have any veggies than I will go for the AVOCADO.
To be honest I usually eat one or half an avocado everyday,
Avocados are high in fat. But it’s monounsaturated fat, which is a “good” fat that helps lower bad cholesterol, as long as you eat them in moderation. I eat one a day:)
Vitamin K: 26% of the RDA.
Folate: 20% of the RDA.
Vitamin C: 17% of the RDA.
Potassium: 14% of the RDA.
Vitamin B5: 14% of the RDA.
Vitamin B6: 13% of the RDA.
Vitamin E: 10% of the RDA.
Then it contains small amounts of Magnesium, Manganese, Copper, Iron, Zinc, Phosphorous, Vitamin A, B1 (Thiamine), B2 (Riboflavin) and B3 (Niacin).
Having high Protein breakfast most likely have something to do with the hormone called GHRELIN, this is the appetite hormone, it stimulates hunger. When you eat high protein for breakfast you will most likely diminish all the cravings for carbs and sugar, stay full for a longer time that will make you wanna stop going for the mid-morning snack and you will not crush after all. You will have a sustainable energy and you will automatically lose weight.
When you start the day right that sets the tone for the entire day and slowly you are out of the rut of falling behind, not reaching your weight goals and making progress. it only takes one day to start.
Can you make the change? Say: Tomorrow morning I am going to try this, let see what happens and let me know how you felt and what was the hardest or easiest parts.
